We were so inspired by these big fat blubbery animals lying around that we had to go back and take a nap. In a fit of temporary madness, we did go for a short run along the beach. Having done something healthy, we went out for a big dinner at the Sow's Ear in Cambria. This was a small romantic restaurant with decent food and a decent wine list, not to mention a pig theme. We, of course, started with our requisite glass of sparkling wine. Since some tasty sounding lamb brochettes (medium rare of course) were our specials of choice, we had to have some red wine. The restaurant had some 1997 Niebaum Coppola Rubicon reasonably priced (or at least reasonably priced for unreasonable people like us). We started with some marinated goat cheese and roasted vegetables. Had some house salads (buttermilk dressing for Andrea and a honey lemon vinaigrette for me). By the time the main course arrived, we were not so hungry anymore. We gave it a good effort and finished most of it (esp. me, since I was going for extra credit). Amazingly, we still ordered dessert (raspberry rhubarb) and a glass of some black muscat dessert wine. At the end of our pigging out, the host asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion. I said that we were celebrating a birthday. He then took out a polaroid and took our picture and then gave us a free dessert (cheesecake). Burp.
