About Andrea

About Donato

I was born in St. Louis, MO. I'll be 35 at the time of the wedding. I currently work as an IT Manager (an overgrown computer geek) at Monster Cable Products where I've worked for the past 3+ years. I have an engineering degree from Harvey Mudd College (yes, that's really the name of the school. an excellent engineering school in fact!). My hobbies include hiking/backpacking, running, photography, science fiction, movies, haute cuisine, wine, music, performing arts (attending that is), and high end audio.

Our Engagement

I proposed to Andrea on Friday, August 30, 2002 in Fish Creek, WI while we were there with her family in a cabin they had rented.

For a few weeks before this, Andrea and I had been shopping for rings. Earlier in August, we made a trip up to Portland and decided to check out some of the rings there (the big advantage being no sales tax). We had looked at some rings in various stores, but Andrea eventually found a very specific ring and diamond that "spoke to her.". We weren't ready to buy at that moment although I knew she really, really wanted that ring.

Okay, fast forward to just before the trip to Wisconsin (to be followed by our trip to St. Louis). This was Andrea's family vacation. Her parents had rented out a cabin in Fish Creek for a week. I dropped took Andrea to the airport early Saturday morning (Aug 24). I wasn't going to be joining her and her family until Wednesday night. So, I scheduled a flight up to Portland on Sunday (Aug 25) and had pre-arranged with the store to buy the exact ring that she had seen. So, I flew up to Portland, bought the ring, and flew back.

I then met flew out to Wisconsin on Wednesday evening. Friday morning after we woke up, I brought out the box, much to Andrea's surprise. We shared the news with her family that evening and then flew to St. Louis on Saturday where we shared the news with my family. The rest is history!
